In a news release, the USDA said its Food Safety and Inspection Service was issuing the alert for the ready-to-eat products because they did not receive an import reinspection. A recall was not requested by the FSIS because the products are no longer being sold.

The FSIS said in its release that there have been no reports of consumers becoming ill due to eating the product.

The chicken products were produced between April 14 and April 16, 2022, the FSIS said.

These two products are subject to the public health alert:

  • 12.5-ounce tray in-box packages containing “TRADER JOES BUTTER CHICKEN WITH BASMATI RICE” with best-by dates of April 14, 2023, and April 16, 2023, and lot codes “208068″ and “208228.”
  • 8.5-ounce bag-in-box packages containing “TRADER JOES MINI CHICKEN TIKKA SAMOSAS” with a best-by date of April 14, 2023, and lot codes “208072″ and “207772.”

The products bear the Canadian establishment seal “913,” according to the news release.

Customers who purchased the products are advised not to consume them and throw them away or return them to where they were purchased, the news release stated.
