Friday, August 12, 2011 - Suzi's Spiked Watermelon

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe watermelon
  • 1 bottle desired liquor ("Spike" can be vodka, rum, tequila, gin, etc.)

Mixing Instructions:

Lay the melon on its side and make a circular cut in the rind as big as the diameter of the neck of the liquor bottle.  Remove plug, set aside.  With a swift (and accurate) move, insert the neck of the bottle into the watermelon hole.  Press the bottle into the watermelon as firmly as possible.  The bottle should drain slightly... you will need to let it sit a while, perhaps overnight.  After the watermelon has absorbed as much of the liquor as it can, remove the bottle.  Replace the plug and cover it with duct tape to make sure the flavor can sink in.  Refrigerate or place in a cooler with ice... Serve cold and sliced!

  3. Mix the juices with the alcohol using this ratio:
          3 cups of juice
          2 oz. of alcohol
