Perhaps it's his love of competition, perhaps it's his love of the spotlight, or perhaps his legal fees were more than we thought, but Roger Clemens is back in the game. 

 The Rocket has agreed to pitch in the minor leagues for the Sugar Land Skeeters, and just like that, the Skeeters have more stars than the Astros.

 It will be interesting to see who draws more fans.

Roger Clemens is taking the mound once again.

The Sugar Land Skeeters announced Monday that Clemens will be pitching for the team at Saturday's game at Constellation Field against the Bridgeport Bluefish at 7:05 p.m.

Eleven time All Star and seven time Cy Young Award Winner Roger Clemens is scheduled to join the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League. Clemens will be in uniform on Friday August 24, and will make his first start for the Skeeters this Saturday, August 25, at Constellation Field.

“Roger came to work out for us today, and we were very impressed,” said Tal Smith, special advisor for the Sugar Land Skeeters.

“He had great command of all his pitches and we couldn’t be more excited about this signing.”

Clemens joins the Atlantic League’s Sugar Land Skeeters pitching rotation that all ready features former major leaguers Scott Kazmir, Tim Redding and Jason Lane.

“Any time you can add a player of Roger’s caliber is extremely exciting,” said Skeeters President Matt O’Brien.

“Our inaugural season has been extremely memorable, and this is just going to add to it.”
