Krewe of Gambrinus proudly announces that Suzi Hanks of FM 107.5 and 106.9 ‘The Eagle’ will be their Honorary Grand Marshall for the 24th Annual King Gambrinus Lights Up the Night Parade on February 2nd.
With a theme of “Moroccan and Rollin’” the Krewe chose their favorite Rockin’ and Rollin’ radio personality to lead the 6pm parade down Seawall Blvd from 23rd Street to Central City Boulevard.
As one of the Co-Hosts of the Morning Show, Suzi works with the often irreverent team of Dean and Rog as news, weather and traffic anchor, and producer. Suzi also hosts the “Drink of the Week” segment brought to their listeners and website fans with recipes and reviews.
A California native, Suzi earned her BA degree in Radio/TV/Film from California State University. A resident of Galveston County for more than a decade, Suzi has become well known for her generous spirit. She volunteers regularly with Taping for the Blind, Inc. where she had been described as a blessing in disguise for visually impaired men (and maybe some women) who would love to read a Playboy Magazine. Each week, in her amazing radio voice, Suzi describes pictures and reads articles (and letters) from the current issue of the magazine for an hour.
Suzi Hanks other passion is volunteering for the Gulf Coast Big Brothers / Big Sisters where she was named “Big Sister of the Year” for 2011. Suzi serves as a mentor to help her “little sister” achieve her full potential in a world that may have left this young woman behind. Suzi’s experience and willingness to share has been a model for those interested in becoming involved with this organization.
Suzi and her husband, John, will be in the lead car on Saturday, February 2nd as our parade rolls down Seawall Boulevard presenting the Beauty and Mystery that is Morocco! The Krewe of Gambrinus is very honored to have Suzi Hanks join us as our Honorary Grand Marshall for our 2013 parade!

The Krewe of Gambrinus, named after the Patron Saint of Brewing (see below), was formed in 1989 with the first "Gambrinus Lights Up the Night", rolling in February 1990. As one of the two Galveston Super Parades, the Krewe launches 14 Huge Floats, and just as many marching bands, tossing over 600,000 beads and trinkets to over 300,000 screaming spectators. Fireworks are arranged along the parade route to top it all of with a bang! As we mentioned on the entry page, the Krewe of Gambrinus, is a not-for-profit organization, chartered for the support of tourism and underprivileged children in Galveston, Harris, and surrounding counties.
