SASKATCHEWAN —

A beaver herding cattle may be one of the most Canadian things ever to go viral.

Saskatchewan rancher Adrienne Ivey posted video of the amusing incident Saturday on Facebook. She wrote on Facebook, "How do we move 150 heifers in Canada? Now I just need a better trained beaver..."

Ivey followed up on Monday with a post on her blog, "View from the Ranch Porch," providing more details about the beaver with a talent for herding. Ivey said that the ranch is in the middle of calving season, the time of year when calves are born. The heifers on the ranch were grouped together because they are young and have not had experience giving birth before, so they often need extra assistance. When Ivey went to check on the herd, she was surprised to see 150 heifers moving so closely together. She thought that one of the heifers had given birth.

Instead, it was a beaver.

Ivey said it is not unusual to see beaver and other forms of wildlife on the ranch, and that the heifers, because of their youth, are curious creatures. When the beaver crossed the cattle's path, they couldn't help but follow their new friend.

The beaver has long been a Canadian symbol, as the CBC reports.
