'Oprah's Next Chapter': Gabby Douglas called "slave" by team
Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas sat down for “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” and revealed to O that she endured years of torment and racism at her hometown gym in Virginia. “One of my teammates was, like, ‘Can you scrape the bar?’ And they were like, ‘Why doesn’t Gabby do it? She’s our slave,” Gabby said. “I definitely felt isolated. I felt, why am I deserving this? Is it because I’m black? Like, those thoughts would go through my mind.”
