THE DOORS
Out today is the Doors' L.A. Woman: 40th Anniversary Edition. Included on the two-disc set is first new, completely unreleased song in 40 years, called "She Smells So Nice" -- an outtake from the album's 1971 sessions, which were the band's last with Jim Morrison. Co-producer Bruce Botnick recently unearthed the track while cataloging the L.A. Woman session tapes.
In addition to such legendary tracks as the album's title track, L.A. Woman -- which was released on April 29th, 1971 -- featured such instant classics as "Love Her Madly," "The WASP (Texas Radio And The Big Beat)," and "Riders On The Storm." The expanded reissue features a bonus disc of alternate takes, along with two songs left off the original album -- "She Smells So Nice," and "Rock Me."
Also out today is a companion piece to the new reissue, the band's latest DVD documentary, The Doors: Mr. Mojo Risin': The Story Of L.A. Woman.
Ray Manzarek explained to us that the discovery of "She Smells So Nice" couldn't have been more of a surprise to the band: "Buried treasure! Found treasure! Nobody remembered doing the song. I didn't remember. Bruce found it in the outtakes, he listened to everything and said, 'Hey, there's a whole new song here!' We said, 'What?' We went down to hear it and it was like, 'I don't remember recording that!' Nobody remembered recording it -- I don't remember recording it. It was (recorded) on 'blues-day' and we were just going to do a bunch of blues -- and man, oh man -- there it is! Oh my God! So, that is a total surprise for the Doors, for Bruce Botnick, and hopefully for the fans, too."

RINGO STARR
Ringo Starr will release his first self-produced solo album, Ringo 2012, on January 31st and is currently putting together a new edition of his All Starr Band together for a summer tour. Appearing on the album are Don Was, Dave Stewart, Edgar Winter, Mr. Mister's Richard Page, and the Heartbreakers' Benmont Tench. Ringo explained that as a boss -- be it in the studio or as a bandleader -- all he wants from any player is the best they've got: "If I ask you to come and play on it -- I want you on it. I'm not there saying, 'Don't play that note -- or don't do this.' Sometimes I have to say, 'Well, that's not really the way I was goin',' but I trust the musicians to do their best. That's the same with the All-Stars, and I have that speech every time I put a new band (together): 'Look, I'll do my best for all of you, I expect you to do the best for me and all the other members of the band.' And sometimes in rehearsal, I've had members that aren't willing to do their best and we've had to let them go.
60% OF MEN WANT PARTNER'S OPINION ON OUTFIT BEFORE HEADING TO WORK
According to a poll conducted by a men's fashion retailer in the U.K., 60% of men consult their partners about their outfits before heading to work. The director of the retailer, High and Mighty, said, "Looking your best for the office is really important. From giving the best first impression to shining in the boardroom, making sure you are dressed to impress really can make all the difference to how confident you feel at work. It comes as no surprise to me that the majority of men are dressed by their wife or partner as we see many of our customers coming into store and waiting patiently whilst their other half picks out what they think will look best." The respondents also said their partners also physically help in dressing them from helping to put on a tie and fastening cufflinks to buttoning up shirts. The results of the survey also suggest that men between 18 and 24 are more dependent on their partners for outfit help while men between 35 and 44 rely on their partner's help less. (Daily Mail)

WOMEN FEEL PAIN MORE INTENSELY THAN MEN
A study of 11,000 men and women shows that women feel pain more intensely than men. The study included patients at the Stanford Hospital and Clinics with various conditions from cancer to infectious diseases. Using patient-reported pain scores, researchers were able to determine that women were more likely to indicate higher pain levels than men. The author of the study, Dr. Atul Butte, said, "That was the most surprising finding. We completely wouldn't have expected such a difference across almost all disorders, where women were reporting a whole pain point higher on the 0-to-10 scale than men." (Time)
