Fleetwood Mac tour in 2013? Roger Daltrey & the Rolling Stones. People want to work with the same gender. Friends more important than lovers? Does anyone write by hand anymore? Tell-tale signs your husband is having an affair.
FLEETWOOD MAC
Despite several postponements, 2013 will be the year that Fleetwood Mac heads back on the road. The band last toured in 2009; marking the first time they embarked on a major road trek without promoting a new album. Stevie Nicks said Fleetwood Mac will be touring on the strength of it's back catalogue with rehearsals on the books for the beginning of 2013: "I'm taking the rest of this year for my In Your Dreams record that I love so much, and then 2013 is Fleetwood Mac, 'cause we're in rehearsal in January."
In Your Dreams -- which is Nicks' seventh and latest solo studio album -- was co-produced by the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, who also co-wrote seven of the album's 13 songs. The album also includes the song, "Everybody Loves You" -- which was written about Lindsey Buckingham.
ROLLING STONES
According to a new report out of Britain, in the mid-'80s things had gotten so strained within the Rolling Stones that Keith Richards tossed around the idea of then-former Who frontman Roger Daltrey replacing Mick Jagger. The Daily Mail reported that the Stones' eventual three-year split in the second half of the '80's hearkened back to problems held over from the previous decade: "In the '70s, obvious cracks began to appear. Keith felt Mick had sold out on rock music. Mick, felt that Keith -- deeply addicted to heroin -- was out of control. By the '80s, Jagger was detached enough to make a solo album, She's The Boss. Keith was furious and even tried to get the Who's Roger Daltrey to replace Mick in the band's line-up. The recording of the band's album Dirty Work, in Paris in 1985, was fraught: studio time was organized so that Mick and Keith wouldn't have to be in the same room at the same time."
Bill German, the author of Under Their Thumb -- How A Nice Boy From Brooklyn Got Mixed Up With The Rolling Stones And Lived To Tell About It, and the editor of the groundbreaking Stones fanzine Beggars Banquet, had a unique inside look at how the Stones came apart in the mid-'80s during the tension-filled and lackluster Dirty Work sessions. He was asked what he makes of the album a quarter-century later: "(Laughs) I don't think it's one of their best, but, uh, there are tracks on there that I do like. But, yeah, y'know, they were not functioning as a unit then. And so, that's why it does not rank up there as one of their great albums, y'know? But I felt that the Dirty Work album had a little bit of the New York City grittiness and because I was in the Keith and Woody camp, y'know, I guess I have, like, a sentimental warm spot in my heart for that album. But, no, listening to it now, I'm not gonna rank it as one of the best albums."
PEOPLE WANT TO WORK WITH SAME GENDER
People prefer to work with their own gender. Consulting company Innovisor has spent three years compiling data from 5,000 employees at 60 major companies around the world in an effort to analyze how people prefer to collaborate. The firm's recent analysis of its data indicates that men and women are 40% more likely to choose to work with someone of their own gender (the analysis discounted supervisors to eliminate the statistical bias caused by more of them being male). The preference of people to work with their own gender was widespread, appearing in all 29 countries in which the firm gathered data. (AskMen.com)
FRIENDS MORE IMPORTANT THAN LOVERS?
New research has revealed that almost three quarters (72 percent) of singles have friends who will be friends for life, and four in five say that friendships last longer than romantic relationships. Men in particular are turning down marriage offers with just three in ten single men believing that they will ever get married, and 48 percent of the male population thinking single people are more fun. The study by Confused.com also coined a new genre of people -- FLAPers (Financially Liberated and Positively Single) -- those who are turning the tables on the stereotype of the sad singleton and embracing the adventure and spontaneity. DOES ANYONE WRITE BY HAND ANYMORE?
A new study found that the typical adult doesn't write anything by hand for almost six weeks at a time. The research, commissioned by online stationer Docmail, revealed that the average time since an adult last wrote by hand was 41 days. But it also found that one in three has not had cause to write anything 'properly' for more than six months. Two thirds of the 2,000 respondents said that if they do write by hand, it's usually something for their eyes only with scribbled reminders or notes most common. (Telegraph)
TELL-TALE SIGNS YOUR HUSBAND IS HAVING AN AFFAIR(YourTango.com)
1. He takes or makes phone calls in private. Although there may be a need for privacy when taking or making phone calls, if your partner retreats to the other room every time the phone rings, there may be something more going on, especially if this behavior is new or has suddenly become more frequent.
2. He deletes the text history on his phone. Most people do not bother deleting old text messages ... at least not until the phone is full. If your partner makes sure that old messages are deleted -- or worse -- he deletes them as soon as he finishes a conversation with someone, there may be more going on than just texting.
3. He maintains multiple e-mail or social media accounts. If you discover additional or hidden e-mail or social media sites, things are almost certainly not good. Simply put, people in committed relationships have no need to maintain accounts that their partners don't know about. If you discover one of these, it is time to be concerned.
4. He avoids family or other social events. Infidelity, whether physical or emotional, will always result in lost time with friends and family. If your partner avoids social gatherings or activities, leaves early or arrives late because of some project or task, there may be a strong chance that he is spending time with someone else, whether on the phone, the computer, or in person.
5. He suddenly spends tons of time with another person. If your partner is suddenly spending a lot of time with a colleague, co-worker, friend or even an acquaintance, particularly if that person is of the opposite sex, you may want to learn more about this relationship and the possibility that there may be an affair going on.
6. He gives gifts or frequently volunteers to help another person. Although it is nice to give gifts and do kind things for friends, family members and even strangers, if your partner frequently gives gifts, especially those that are costly, take time and effort to prepare or have significant meaning, or volunteers to help out with projects around the home, this may be a sign that he is having an emotional affair.
