PETER FRAMPTON
Out today is Peter Frampton's new DVD and Blu-ray FCA 35 Tour: An Evening With Peter Frampton and it's companion triple CD set, Best Of FCA! 35 Tour. The DVD features footage taped at New York City's Beacon Theater and Milwaukee's Pabst Theater, with Frampton personally going through the tour's performances for the hottest versions of all the songs for the CD.
As well as performing the 1976 Frampton Comes Alive! album in it's entirety, the new set dips into his recent works -- including the 2006 Grammy Award winning instrumental collection, Fingerprints, his most recent album, 2010's Thank You Mr. Churchill -- along with an emotional take on the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," an instrumental cover of Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun," and rousing renditions of Humble Pie's "Four Day Creep" and "I Don't Need No Doctor."
At the kickoff of the tour, Frampton was alternating between playing the newer material first and opening with Frampton Comes Alive! He was asked why he very quickly gave up on closing the shows with Come Alive!: "The reason that we stayed with Comes Alive! first is that we tried 'round the other way and people were restless. So, it was better to give them cake first. Maybe it was 'round the other way; when we did the second set first, maybe we were giving them desert first and they wanted the main course. And I found out that I much preferred to do Comes Alive!, have my captive audience there and then bet on the fact that they'll stay for the second set and that's what they did."
The tracklisting to Peter Frampton's Best Of FCA! 35 Tour is: "Somethin's Happenin,'" "Doobie Wah," "Lines On My Face," "Show Me The Way," "It's A Plain Shame," "Wind Of Change," "Just The Time Of Year," "Penny For Your Thoughts," "All I Wanna Be (Is By Your Side)," "Baby, I Love Your Way," "I Wanna Go To The Sun," "Nowhere's Too Far (For My Baby)," "(I'll Give You) Money," "Do You Feel Like I Do," "Shine On," "Jumpin Jack Flash," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps,' 'Asleep At The Wheel," "Restraint," "Float,' "Boot It Up," "Double Nickels," "Vaudeville Nanna And The Banjolele," "Suite Liberte," "All I Wanna Be (Is By Your Side)," "Road To The Sun," 'I Don't Need No Doctor," "Black Hole Sun," "Four Day Creep," and "Off The Hook."
ROLLING STONES
The Rolling Stones have added a third New York-area show to their upcoming dates, with their first ever show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center now set for December 8th. The concert follows the Stones' two London shows on November 25th and 29th at London's O2 Arena and comes just prior to the band's December 13th and 15th shows at Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center.
Out today is the band's latest greatest hits set, titled, Grrr! The career-spanning collection -- which features a bizarre album cover featuring a drawing of a gorilla with the Stones' signature tongue-and-lips logo -- is available in several different formats -- including a three-CD 50 track version and a four-CD Super-Deluxe version featuring 80 tracks. Among the highlights on the set are "Come On" -- the Stones' cover of the Chuck Berry rarity, which was their first single released in June 1963, "The Last Time," "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Get Off Of My Cloud," "Jumping Jack Flash," "Honky Tonk Women," "Brown Sugar," "Tumbling Dice," "Miss You," and "Start Me Up," among many others.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards spoke to Rolling Stone about the two new tracks -- "Doom & Gloom" and "One More Shot" the band recently recorded in Paris for the collection. Richards recalled: "They were making this compilation, and at the last moment they tell us, 'Oh, it'd be nice to have an extra track or two.' So Mick and I say, 'Oh, great, we've got a month. Just like that, huh?' I said, 'I've got one,' and he said, 'I've got one' -- it was probably the quickest Rolling Stones recording sessions that I can remember, ever. We cut two tracks in three days, boom. And to me just taking one step back, to watch the band playing, just as an observer. . . whoa, man, these cats are hot."
JOHN FOGERTY
John Fogerty has signed with publishers Little, Brown and Company to write his autobiography, due out in 2014. According to the press release, Fogerty's book will examine his days as the principal songwriter and producer of Creedence Clearwater Revival, along with his take on dealing with the "pressures of sudden fame, his tumultuous relationships with his bandmates -- including his brother, Tom (Fogerty) and his long and costly battle for creative freedom from his record label, a battle that was taken all the way to the Supreme Court."
Fogerty said about the upcoming memoir: "The kid from El Cerrito wanted to be the best musician in the world -- my promise to myself. I accomplished that goal against all odds, only to have it fall apart on top of me. The songs and the music stopped; you didn't hear from John Fogerty for years. All of this took its toll on me. I couldn't write a song, sing a song. And it was so hard on me, all of the lawsuits and betrayals. I was personally fading away. My story will share the ups and downs and how it all affected me. The road back was a bumpy one, and I knew that it would take years to come out of it, but I did. Happily, I did, with my dear wife, Julie, by my side."
He went on to say: "I have come to a place where I can look back and reflect on those stories and share what really happened. I am the guy who lived it, and you will hear me tell the story for the first time."
Fogerty has pushed his eagerly anticipated duets collection, Wrote A Song For Everyone, from October 9th to sometime in early 2013. The album features new collaborations with the Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, and others.
John Fogerty said that the guitar is still the be-all and end-all for him regarding rock n' roll: "That's mostly how it works for me, and that is also what I like to do. I like playing guitar, and it's fun trying to come up with a unique lick, y'know? Or, I like playing other people's licks. I mean, I just love playing. I still sit down and play 'Honky Tonk' and get a great big smile on my face."
INXS
Legendary Australian '80s rockers INXS will be calling it quits, according to Billboard. The band wrapped their final gig in front of over 15,000 fans on Sunday (November 11th) in Perth, Australia performing their early-'80s classic "Don't Change" with Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas, who was on the bill, singing along for the band's live finale.
The band -- Tim, Andrew and Jon Farriss, Kirk Pengilly, and Garry Beers -- issued this statement, posted on INXS.com: "We understand that this must come as a blow to everybody, but all things must eventually come to an end. We have been performing as a band for 35 years, it's time to step away from the touring arena. Our music will of course live on and we will always be a part of that. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the friends and family that have supported us throughout our extensive career. Our lives have been enriched by having you all as a part of the journey."
INXS, who was a mainstay on MTV throughout the '80s, broke massively in the U.S. with its 1987 blockbuster Kick, which sold over 10 million copies and featured such standards as "Need You Tonight," "Devil Inside," "New Sensation," "Never Tear Us Apart" and "Mystify." Other hits included "Don't Change," "The One Thing," "Listen Like Thieves," "Suicide Blonde" and "Disappear."
The band's fate took a massive blow with the 1997 suicide of charismatic frontman Michel Hutchence. The band carried on with guest vocalists including Jimmy Barnes, Terence Trent D'Arby, and Jon Stevens.
INXS confused longtime fans by looking for their new permanent singer through a highly publicized reality show, which earned Canadian J.D. Fortune a stint as the band's frontman. In 2011 Irish singer-songwriter Ciaran Gribbin officially replaced Fortune.
Guitarist Tim Farriss said that the bonds between the members of INXS were set from the beginning: "It was kind of a commitment -- everyone left their girlfriends, and their jobs, and whatever, and we all headed off to Perth for a year to write a lot of songs and live as musicians. And I think that we formed a lot of common bonds back then that are still relevant today."
MORE WOMEN THAN MEN NOW HAVE DRIVER'S LICENSES
For the first time since cars first hit the road at the dawn of the 20th century, more women than men now have driver's licenses, and the current trend indicates the gap will only widen. A study from the University of Michigan's Transportation Research Institute that covered the years 1995 to 2010, found that at the start of the research, male drivers slightly outnumbered women, 89.2 million to 87.4 million. But by 15 years later, women had 105.7 million licenses compared to 104.3 million men. Study co-author Michael Sivak predicted that this will likely have safety and economic implications, since women are more likely than men to buy smaller, safer and more fuel-efficient cars, to drive less, and to have a lower fatality rate per distance driven.
FACEBOOK TESTING A SOUND ALERT FEATURE FOR WALL POSTS
Facebook is testing out a new sound alert system that plays a "ding dong" noise each time someone writes on your timeline, sends you a message, or invites you to an event. Facebook says that only a small number of profiles have been enabled with the new sound alerts, which can be controlled through account settings. Facebook says it's also working on a new comments system. (Fox News)
ARE YOU ALLERGIC TO YOUR CELL PHONE?
New scientific data shows your cell phone might be making you itch. Researchers analyzed 75-cell-phones to see which models contain two common allergens - cobalt and nickel. Flip phones contained the most nickel, and in the category of smart phones the Blackberry was the only model to contain either of the allergens. According to the Mayo Clinic, if your skin is in contact with the metal too long you could develop an allergy to it. (Women's Health)

SEVEN WAYS TO FIGHT SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER(The Stir)
1) Exercise those blues away - While exercising in the winter isn't always the easiest thing to do, what with the plummeting temperatures and black ice and all, it's important if you feel those winter blues coming on to get your body moving. Try doing some housework on days that it's too cold to go outside. Not only will you feel accomplished, but you'll also get your blood pumping and those endorphins (our natural pleasure chemicals) released.
2) Natural sunlight - Even opening the blinds of the window or taking a quick walk through the park can help with sunlight exposure. Natural sunlight does wonders for your mood and can even decrease feelings of depression.
3) Light therapy - If natural sunlight and exercise aren't doing the trick, light therapy can be used to alleviate the blues. Specialized light bulbs placed in lamps around the house can help fight SAD and get you feeling like yourself again!
4) Vitamins - Because the winter months often find those of us in colder climates staying indoors more often, we're not getting some of the essential nutrients from the sun, such as vitamin D. Start out by taking a multivitamin regularly (usually once a day, but read the package instructions) and see if that helps chase the winter blahs away.
5) Don't isolate - Depression is one of those nasty mental illnesses that can leave you feeling lethargic, low, and not interested in going out and doing things. Getting off your butt and hanging out with friends can do wonders to lift moods and spirits, which can beat depression into submission.
6) Eat well - If you feel the winter blues coming on, it's easy to dive into a tube of Pringles or a gallon of ice cream and park your butt on the sofa. It's hard to want to plan out and enjoy a nice, healthy meal, but it's vital to eat right while you're dealing with seasonal depression. Eating well helps boost mood, increases the levels of essential nutrients in your diet, and can give you the energy you need to get through the day.
7) Get some help - If you find that these home-care remedies for seasonal depression don't quite do the trick, it's time to talk to your doctor. Be sure to talk about your mood, when the depression began, your symptoms, and other information pertinent to making a proper diagnosis. There's no shame in being unable to beat Seasonal Affective Disorder on your own!
