Pete Townshend talks about current Who tour. McCartney will be musical guest on SNL. "Heartache Tonight" was an afterthought. Cuddle parties. New consequences for downloading media illegally. How much would the "12 Days of Christmas" gifts cost? Twitter archive on the way. Three signs your online date isn't single.

THE WHO

Although he wrote and produced the Who's 1973 Quadrophenia project, Pete Townshend credits Roger Daltrey for conceiving the band's current tour behind the classic rock opera. Townshend said that Daltrey that has actually realized his original goal for the album back in the day: "When Quadrophenia was first finished, back in '73, one of my frustrations was that I imagined it was going to go straight out on the road -- not exactly as a show, but something quite close to a show. So, for me, that realization of the music as a show is really important. But there's something else about it, which is great for me, which is that you can hear that Roger has, a, y'know, a tremendous creative investment in this. And I think it's one of the few things we've done, where we've been able to come together. Y'know, what Roger is doing these days, he's actually creating a new way of putting it across, and as he says, bringing it up to date."

PAUL MCCARTNEY

Paul McCartney will be the musical host for the December 15th episode of Saturday Night Live. The episode, which will be hosted by SNL alumnus Martin Short, marks the former Beatle's fifth appearance on the NBC comedy show, having last been seen on SNL on December 11th, 2010. McCartney first appeared on the show back in 1980. McCartney and SNL creator and executive producer, Lorne Michaels, are longtime friends and both summer in the exclusive East Hampton, New York enclave.

McCartney is currently on the road and performs tonight and tomorrow (November 28th and 29th) in Edmonton. As a divorced parent sharing custody of young Beatrice, McCartney cherry-picks his live dates and mainly performs on days when she's in the care of her mom, McCartney's second wife, Heather Mills. McCartney shed light on being a father late in life: "When you do it second time around, as I have with my eight-year-old daughter, I think you're more aware. I know other people who (are in) the same situation, and you're more aware that time is fleeting, so you pay more attention. So this time around, I make time."

THE EAGLES

Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder remembers that the band's 1979 chart-topper "Heartache Tonight" was an afterthought for the band. Felder, who's busy promoting his second solo album, Road To Forever, recalled the genesis of the song, which was written by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, J.D. Souther -- with a little help from none other than Bob Seger for The Long Run.

Felder explained to SomethingElseReviews.com, "When we got towards the end of The Long Run, we realized that Glenn had nothing to sing on the record except this one song called 'Teenage Jail.' . . . So we called Bob Seger, and Bob had started about 60 or 70 percent of 'Heartache Tonight,' which was perfect for Glenn. So we got together, and J.D. Souther, Don, Glenn and Bob finished writing that, ran into the studio and recorded that for Glenn -- because it was the strongest thing for Glenn's representation on the record. We couldn't put out a record without Glenn singing a hit on it."

Longtime Eagles collaborator J.D. Souther gave us the inside scoop on the band's last chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100 to date: "Glenn and I were walking around my living room, just clapping our hands -- no instruments -- and we were trying to write a Sam Cooke song. And if you think about the melody without instruments, it's very, very, Sam Cooke-ish, y'know? We got a verse-and-a-half, or, two into it and just couldn't think of a chorus and so, (laughs) Glenn called Seger on the phone and sang it to him, and Seger just came right in with, (sings) 'It's gonna be a Heartache Tonight!' So, Glenn called me back and said, 'We got a chorus.'"

CUDDLE PARTIES ARE A THING

According to one website, CuddleParty.com, Cuddle Parties are "designed for adults to explore communication, boundaries and affection." The site's 'About' section explains, "You can come to a Cuddle Party to meet new people, to enjoy amazing conversations, to touch, to be touched, to have fun, to practice asking for what you want, to practice saying "no" to what you don't want -- all in a setting structured to be a safe place for exploration and enjoyment. You can even come to a Cuddle Party just to cuddle!"

NEW CONSEQUENCES FOR DOWNLOADING MEDIA ILLEGALLY

If you download media illegally, beware. Starting today (November 28th), Internet service providers will begin enforcing the "Six Strikes" initiative against digital pirates. The program will allow I-S-Ps to directly penalize users who download pirated content. The penalties will vary for each I-S-P, and according to the Center for Copyright Information, could include: temporary reductions of Internet speeds, redirection to a landing page until the subscriber contacts the I-S-P to discuss the matter, or the user being forced to complete an online course about copyright laws before internet speed would be restored. Some I-S-Ps have even said they will "block access to frequently visited websites" as a penalty. (Huffington Post)

HOW MUCH WOULD THE "12-DAYS OF CHRISTMAS" GIFTS COST?

Only the one-percent could afford to buy all of the gifts mentioned in the lyrics of the song "The 12-Days of Christmas," according to P-N-C Wealth Management. The company says it would cost 107-thousand-three-hundred-dollars to buy all 364-items listed in the Christmas carol. The price is about a six-percent increase from 2011. P-N-C says the cost for "seven-swans-a-swimming" jumped from six-thousand-three-hundred-dollars to seven-thousand-dollars this year, and with gold prices up, it would cost you seven-hundred-fifty-dollars this year to buy the "five golden rings," that's 95-dollars more than last year. The "partridge-in-a-pear-tree" is the cheapest item on the list-- the bird only costs 15-dollars. (NY Daily News)

TWITTER ARCHIVE ON THE WAY

Twitter's C-E-O has revealed plans to create an archive of every tweet ever sent. Right now, users can only access the most-recent three-thousand-two-hundred tweets they've sent, but the new archive, which could be finalized by the end of the year, would allow users to see all tweets ever sent from their account. Buzzfeed reports that the archive will probably be a downloadable document. (Daily Mail)

THREE SIGNS YOUR ONLINE DATE ISN'T SINGLE(Your Tango)

1) He avoids communicating on evenings or on the weekends. You notice that your date only seems to talk to you during the week, or while in transit during travels (e.g. while at airports or hotels). If your date consistently stops texting, emailing, Skyping, etc. on the weekends or evenings then reappears during the week or during the day, that date could be a person who is married or involved. Often times, people who are married or are otherwise attached will avoid communicating when their partners are around, usually evenings or weekends.

2) He gives mixed messages. He drops out of communication for stretches of time yet still expresses interest or desire for you. Usually when people cheat, they are wracked with guilt. They may love the excitement and adventure of pursuing someone outside of their relationship, yet they may also feel awful that they are cheating on a partner. It's true that everyone gets busy from time to time, but the way to tell if someone is truly busy and not distancing because of conflicts about cheating, is to look at the frequency of this distancing behavior. If it is happening on a regular basis and is more the trend than the exception in the relationship, this is not a good sign.

3) He gives inconsistent explanations or avoidance. Almost all of us have had the experiences of dating a person who is inconsistent with explanations. For example, you might make plans to get together and find that the person cancels at the last minute or just doesn't show up. Later the date may explain, "I'm so sorry but I had to drive my cousin to another city so was a bit out of pocket." This sounds reasonable enough until the person lets slip, "Yeah, it was a long four hours trip driving my daughter to college." Whoops! Was it a cousin or daughter that got driven to another city? When you say, "Oh I thought it was your cousin," then the story changes to, "Well actually it was a family trip because my ex went along since we both wanted to support our daughter. I didn't want to call or text you because our energy together is so negative since we still don't get along. I really didn't want to expose you to that." How considerate of the date ... not! The real story is that the person is probably still hooking up with the ex but did not want the ex to know that he or she is actively pursuing another relationship with you.
