ROLLING STONES
The world premiere of the Rolling Stones' legendary unreleased movie Charlie Is My Darling - Ireland 1965 will take place on Saturday night (September 29th) at the 50th New York Film Festival in Manhattan. The band's early manager and producer, Andrew Loog Oldham, will be in attendance. The band has just revealed the contents of the upcoming "Super Deluxe Box Set," which includes both DVD and Blu-ray discs featuring the new 2012 version of the film as well as the director's producer's cuts -- plus "significant unseen additional performance and other footage shot in Dublin and Belfast in September of 1965." The set will be released on November 6th.
The bonus content in the collection features two CD's; one featuring the film's newly created soundtrack album, which includes live tracks, audio from the film, and orchestral versions of Stones tracks -- and the second featuring 13 live recordings the band recorded during their 1965 UK tour, which featured the Stones' original lineup -- Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, and Bill Wyman. Also included in the set is a 10-inch vinyl record of the live material, a 42-page hardcover book, along with a replica poster for the band's September 4th, 1965 Belfast date.
STEVIE NICKS
Stevie Nicks' documentary about the making of her recent album, In Your Dreams, will premiere on October 7th as part of the 35th Annual International Hampton's Film Festival in Sag Harbor, New York, according to Vintage Vinyl News. The doc, also titled, In Your Dreams, was co-directed by Nicks and her collaborator on the album, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, and features "costume parties, joyous dinner feasts, tap dancing, fantasy creations, and revealing songwriting and recording sessions all of which are captured on film."
Nicks said that she credits the cohesiveness of In Your Dreams to her co-producer and primary collaborator, Dave Stewart: "It was the best year of my life, and that's really the best thing I can say to you is that and I. . . He was at the Hollywood Bowl show and I dedicated 'Landslide' to him and I said, 'I just want you to know that this has been the best year of my life and Dave Stewart made that happen. Dave Stewart made the best year of Stevie Nicks' life happen.'"
ELO
ELO leader Jeff Lynne says that his new covers collection was meant to pay tribute to his favorite songs -- not reinvent them. Coming on October 9th will be Long Wave -- Lynne's first new set since ELO's 2001 album, Zoom. Long Wave features such pop and rock standards as the Everly Brothers' "So Sad (To Watch Good Love Go Bad)," Don Covay & The Goodtimers' "Mercy, Mercy," Roy Orbison's "Running Scared," Etta James' "At Last," the Four Aces' "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing," Chuck Berry's "Let It Rock," and Bobby Darin's "Beyond The Sea," among others.
Lynne said that although he added his musical fingerprint to the songs , he was careful to remain true to the songwriters' intent: "I would never, ever change anybody's melody -- ever. I hate that when people change the tune and just go off on a little tangent for a while. We all know what the tune should be and it shouldn't be messed with -- I don't think -- when it's a great song. And I don't think the notes should be changed and that's why I stuck to doing them exactly as I knew them. And I wanted to do them with the respect that they deserved, because I think they're beautiful old tunes and the chords are fabulous in them. And the great thing is all the words are marvelous, too -- which is pretty rare in the world, where you get everything that's good about a song is great."
WORLD'S TALLEST FERRIS WHEEL TO BE BUILT ON NEW YORK'S STATEN ISLAND
Plans are in the works to build the world's tallest ferris wheel on Staten Island, New York City's fifth and often forgotten borough. At 625 feet, the ferris wheel will be about half the height of the Empire State Building, and visitors will ride in 36 capsules, each able to hold up to 40 passengers. The observation wheel will be located near the Staten Island Ferry terminal and anchor a retail complex with 100 outlet stores, theater space, a hotel, restaurants and cafes. It's expected to open in 2015. The project is part of Mayor Mike Bloomberg's effort to develop the city's extensive waterfront with parks and recreational projects and make the city more tourist-friendly.
FACEBOOK KEEPING TRACK OF YOUR STALKING
A newly activated Facebook feature is keeping track of your people searches and presenting them in your Activity Log. Facebook announced, "Starting today, in addition to your other activity, you'll be able to see the searches you're making on Facebook. Just as you can choose to delete any of your posts, you can use the same inline control on Activity Log to remove any of your searches at any time. It's important to remember that no one else can see your Activity Log, including your search activity." This means there's a record of who you're Facebook-stalking. While it's supposedly private for now -- beware if this is one of those things that eventually goes public!! (Facebook)

HIGH POWERED PEOPLE ARE LESS STRESSED
Conventional wisdom says government and corporate leaders have high levels of stress, but U.S. researchers say more authority means less stress. In other words, the feeling of being in charge of one's own life more than makes up for the greater amount of responsibility that accompanies higher rungs on the leadership ladder, the researchers said. The study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, also found the connection between power and tranquility was dependent on the total number of subordinates a leader had and on the degree of authority or autonomy a job conferred.
