ELTON JOHN

Elton John will headline Sunday night's (February 10th) Grammy Awards tribute to late Band drummer Levon Helm. Joining Elton will be gospel legend Mavis Staples, along with Zac Brown, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, and Mumford & Sons. Current nominee T Bone Burnett will serve as musical director for this special tribute to Helm. The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will be shown live on CBS Sunday, February 10th at at 8 p.m. ET/PST.

VAN HALEN

Van Halen's old label, Warner Bros. Records, will release a box set called Van Halen: The Studio Albums 1978 - 1984 on March 26th as a limited edition. The six-CD package will contain the band's first six studio albums, including its 1978 self-titled debut, 1979's Van Halen II, 1980's Women And Children First, 1981's Fair Warning, 1982's Diver Down and 1984's 1984, which was the last record by the band to feature original singer David Lee Roth until 2012's A Different Kind Of Truth.

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen admitted a while back that he can't pick a favorite out of the band's many albums: "Well, I tell ya -- to me, they're all special. They're all a bit different, but I love 'em all. You know, they're all a piece of me, so they're all very special."

  • The Studio Albums 1978 - 1984 features all six albums in remastered versions and packaged in a clamshell box.
  • There are no bonus tracks or other extra features of any kind. The set can be ordered at VanHalenStore.com or Amazon.

JOE WALSH

Joe Walsh will be opening for old friends Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band during a handful of dates in March and April. For the majority of Seger's tour, which kicks off on February 27th in Toledo, Ohio, Seger and the and will be the sole performers. Kid Rock will play a double bill with Seger in Saint Paul, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota -- with Walsh opening in Vancouver, Tacoma, Portland, and Denver.

Seger has always paid great respect to his opening acts over the years, having made his bones by opening for anyone on the circuit in the '60s and early-'70s. Paul Stanley recalled that back in the '70s when Seger served as Kiss' opening act, the band needed to dig deep every night to try to top him onstage: "Bob got his first gold album on tour with us. And there were nights, where I can remember being in the dressing room and listening to the crowd reaction, and looking at the band and saying (laughs) 'We better go out there and kick some ass.' Bob was no nonsense great rock n' roll, and the band delivered the goods, and the crowd went crazy. And that always made us work harder. We always wanted great bands on the bill because it made us prove why we were the headliner."

WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE

Foo Fighters, Kid Rock and Rise Against are among the acts who will appear on Wrote A Song For Everyone, a new "collaborative" album from legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty. The 14-track collection consists mainly of Creedence songs reworked by Fogerty and his guest contributors, along with two freshly penned tunes.

In addition to the artists already mentioned, others on the disc include Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, Bob Seger, Jennifer Hudson, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, My Morning Jacket and the Zac Brown Band.

  • Wrote A Song For Everyone is due for release on May 28th.
  • Fans who pre-order the album at either iTunes or Amazon will score an instant download of "Born on the Bayou," featuring Kid Rock. The track premiered last Sunday (February 3rd) during the Super Bowl XLVII telecast.

LIBRARY OFFERS POLE-DANCING CLASS

A library in Scotland is hoping to encourage more people to visit them by hosting a pole dancing class. The class, part of a new initiative called Love Your Library Day, is offered along with other activities like table tennis, head massages and country dancing. An official explained, "Love Your Library Day is a marvelous opportunity for us all to celebrate the hugely important role libraries play in the heart of our local community. The pole fitness session is a fun and interesting way of encouraging more people into our libraries, trying out all the services on offer and ultimately borrowing more books." (UPI)

THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF 2012 REVEALED

Results of a new survey indicate the happiest days of 2012 for Americans were holidays. Gallup and Healthways reasearchers released the report, which is based on 350-thousand telephone surveys taken every day over the course of 2012. The "happiest" days of 2012, according to the survey, included: Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, New Year's Day and Mother's Day. The "saddest" days of the year included: Wednesday August 22nd, Monday September 17th, November 6th, which was Election Day, Wednesday November 7th, and Friday December 14th, the day of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Overall the survey found that 2012 was not as "happy" as 2011. Specifically, 48-percent of those surveyed said they experienced a lot of happiness or enjoyment without a lot of stress or worry over the year, while 48.4-percent said the same thing about the year 2011. THE CONSEQUENCES OF FACEBOOK UNFRIENDING

According to a new study, unfriending someone on Facebook could have consequences in real life interactions. Of those surveyed for the study, 40-percent of people said they would avoid seeing someone in real life that had unfriended them on Facebook, and 10-percent said they were unsure what they would do. Study autho, Christopher Sibona, a PhD candidate at the University of Colorado, says "The study makes in clear that unfriending is meaningful and has important psychological consequences for those to whome it occurs." Another expert says that unfriending someone with anxiety and confidence issues could cause damage. (Metro)

GIVING IS HEALTHY

Researches say that providing assistance to others not only makes givers happier, but also protects their health. To find this resaerchers had about 850 participants answer questions about stressful events in the past year of their lives, and whether they provided tangible assistance to friends or family members. Then the participant morality and time to death was monitored over the following five years. After factoring for other variables, researchers found that those who had helped others during the previous year were less likely to die than those who had not helped others. (UPI)

MEDITATION BOOSTS MUSIC ENJOYMENT

A new study finds that engaging in mindulness meditation could improve enjoyment of music. The study, which was published in the journal Psychology of Music, included 132-students split up into four groups. Two of the groups listened to a 15-minute mindfulness recording, and then 10 minutes of an opera recording. They were tested for their emotional reaction to the music as well as their "flow" - which is how much they felt themselves getting into the music. The two other groups didn't listen to the mindfulness recording before listening to the music. Researchers found that more than half of those who underwent the mindfulness meditation thought that it helped them to be more engaged in the music. (Huffington Post)

TEN REASONS TO NEVER STALK YOUR EX ONLINE AGAIN (The Gloss):

1) Because stalking is an ugly word. Isn't it though? It's just as bad as "golf," or "moist," or "panties." Or even worse, "golfing and stalking in moist panties."

2) Because you don't need to see that stuff. Wait. They're happy without you? And you're staring at it via your computer screen? No thanks.

3) Because you've matured. Do you know how awesome it feels to use the Internet for its actual purpose instead of stalking? It's amazing! You feel so mature, you even start thinking you might Google what exactly a 401k is and where you can buy one.

4) Because you've moved on. Seriously; you have. Everyday that you got out of bed, functioned, laughed with your friends, or fell over in a new pair of heels... you have.

5) Because you'll drive yourself crazy. Seriously, you will. No one likes to feel that way.

6) Because you owe it to your friends and family. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for the people in your life. Do you know how sick they are of you crying every time you see a photo of your ex and their new love doing something moderately exciting? Pull it together, kid.

7) Because they never really "got" you anyway. If they had, you probably wouldn't have broken up in the first place.

8) Because you'll be missed. You will. Everyone is missed at some point; everyone misses the "us" they used to be even if it's just for a minute or two.

9) Because you have better things to do online. Shopping, starting a blog, downloading music, watching My So-Called Life streaming on Netflix for hours at a time -- the possibilities are endless now that you freed up so much of your time!

10) Because you have your life to live. And because you sat in a Paris café eating macarons while writing this... need I say more?

FIVE SIMPLE WAYS TO INCREASE THE LOVE IN YOUR LIFE(The Frisky):

1) Loving thoughts. It's soooo easy to have unloving thoughts; toward your extra layer of stomach chub or that person who just shoved you on the subway or that co-worker who's always putting you down or even that difficult-to-get-along-with family member. We all have more than ample opportunity to indulge in negative thoughts. I know I'm guilty. Something to try: spend an entire day thinking loving thoughts. That's it. When you hear your mind thinking that horrible thing, stop yourself. Replace that thought with a loving thought. My stomach chub is cute. I'm sure that person didn't mean to shove me. Just for one day. You can do it.

2) Say something nice. Take those loving thoughts a step further and turn them into loving words. Just give someone a compliment for no reason. A really juicy, genuine one. Not like "Nice scarf." Something that makes them feel seen. You're the funniest person in the world to me. I like having you around. It should be genuine, of course. Just do it and see how it changes the love quotient in the room.

3) Put out. I'm not talking about sex. I'm talking about love. When I'm having a "feeling unloved" day, instead of feeling sorry for myself, I up my love output. I send a text message and ask how something important went for a friend. I find pictures of Jerri Blank and shih tzu puppies and post them on Facebook walls. I call my grandmother, even though I despise talking on the phone, just because I know it will make her happy. I crack a smile at a stranger. Love is one of those things that boomerangs back when you give it. So, put out A LOT. Be a love slut.

4) Spread your passion. Doing things you're passionate about is a form of love. It's a way to put your love out there in the world. It can be anything really. Bake a cake, build something, go rock climbing, do karaoke. It sounds really simplistic, but it works.

5) Gratitude. Take some time and focus on what you have right this minute, not what wish you had. Duh, I know. But seriously, all those silly Valentine's Day commercials with wine/roses/chocolate/diamond rings on fingers can make us feel like we're missing something. We're not. You have all the love you need, now go appreciate it.

Thanks for listening to The Eagle while you work. Keep it fabulous, Houston!
