BON SCOTT
The first-ever non-theater performance of Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be: The Story Of Bon Scott will take place on February 19th at the Corner Hotel in Richmond, Australia to mark the 33rd anniversary of the legendary AC/DC singer's death. The show tells the story of Scott's life through his music, from his childhood in Scotland through his teenage years in Australia through the local bands that finally led him to stardom with AC/DC before dying of alcohol poisoning at the age of 33. Check it out. (HenneMusic)
DON FELDER
Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder says that due to some pretty brutal legal battles earlier in the decade, his relationship with the still-active member of the Eagles in essentially nil. Felder was fired from the Eagles in 2001 following monetary disputes with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, and Eagles manager Irving Azoff. The case was settled out of court the following year.
Felder spoke with Guitar World magazine, and explained that his relationship with the band's early former members is still going strong: "I have great relationships with Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner. I saw Randy about two months ago, and I just called Bernie on his birthday. Randy was a dear friend of mine during the Eagles and has remained so. Everybody else -- Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh. . . as much as I love Joe and I think the world of him as a player and a person, we have little to no direct contact."
Felder went on to explain how estranged things are between him and his former bandmates, revealing, "Every time I communicate with them or try to reach out, the only return communication I get is from their attorney. It's sad but that's the reality."
Don Felder said that he's well aware that the Eagles was bigger than any if its individual members: ["That group as a team, the five of us -- well, really seven of us, in the records we made including Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner and Joe (Walsh) and Timothy Schmit -- was definitely the best work that any of us have done together on record. I think that that sum of its parts are greater than any of the individual people involved in that project."] SOUNDCUE (:23 OC: . . . in that project)
ASIA/STEVE HOWE
Asia co-founder and legendary Yes guitarist Steve Howe has quit Asia, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Howe has been doing double duty with the bands since the original Asia lineup reformed in 2006. In a statement, Howe gave a shout out to the band's die-hards who have never forgotten the early-'80s first pop-prog ensemble: "Myself and the band wish to thank the fans for the enthusiasm shown during the original members' reunion. I will continue with Yes, and with my trio and solo guitar work. I wish my friends continued success."
Frontman and bassist John Wetton, who continues to front the band -- who are about to record their next album, called, Valkyrie, said in a statement: "Asia is ready to take its next steps along this remarkable road. We cannot wait to perform again for the fans and also to unveil some of the new material, of which we are very proud."
According to Brave Words, guitarist Sam Coulson will replace Howe place in Asia. Last month Asia abruptly canceled all its overseas dates due to drummer Carl Palmer being felled by the E. coli virus. The band had been planning to hit the U.K. to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its 1982 self-titled debut, while also supporting its latest release, XXX.
STUDY SAYS PEOPLE IN TRADITIONAL RELATIONSHIPS HAVE MORE SEX THAN THOSE THAT ARE NOT IN ONE
A recent study published in the Journal of Sex Research finds that people in traditional relationships have more sex than those in "friends with benefits" relationships. Researchers surveyed about 400 people-half in traditional relationships and half in "friends with benefits" relationships-about how much sex they had, how exclusive they were with their partners, how satisfied they were, and more. The found that people in non-traditional relationships had more sex partners in a lifetime, on average 6.37, while the traditional group had 1.9, but that people in traditional relationships had more satisfying sex. LETTING OUT YOUR ANGER IS GOOD FOR YOU
Shout and let it all out-new German research finds that keeping in negative emotions such as fear, anger and anxiety can increase your risk for cardiovascular disease, heart attack, and stroke. An analysis of 22-studies covering more than six-thousand patients revealed that repressors, or people who bottle up their emotions, have a higher heart rate and pulse ratio than non-repressors. Study author Marcus Mund, Ph.D., says that repressors also show more signs of stress than non-repressors. Scientists say this may happen because chronically repressing negative thoughts makes the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, the part of the brain that controls your reactions to stress, become hyperactive. MEN WITH BROWN EYES PERCEIVED AS TRUSTWORTHY?
Results of a new study show that brown-eyed men are perceived as more trustworthy than blue-eyed men. Researcher Karl Kleisner of Charles University in Prague conducted the study by photographing 40-male and 40-female students from the Czech Republic, all with either blue or brown eyes. They then asked another group of Czech students to rate the photographs for trustworthiness, attractiveness or dominance on a scale of one to ten. Results show that brown-eyed male faces in particular were seen as more trustworthy than blue-eyed ones. However, researchers say that they think face-shape is actually the deciding factor that decides trustworthiness, as they did a second experiment in which they digitally swapped eye colors in the photos and participants still judged the same people as trustworthy. Researchers say men whose faces appeared more baby-faced and cheerful seemed to be deemed more trust-worthy. The study was published in the journal PLOS ONE. (Huffington Post)
IS SMARTPHONE USE HURTING YOUR RELATIONSHIP?
Step away from your smartphone, it could be hurting your relationship according to two recent studies. Researchers from the University of Essex found people who engaged in personal discussions when a cell phone was near by, even if they weren't actually using it, reported lower relationship quality and less trust for their partner. They also thought their partner was empathetic to their concerns. One expert suggests avoiding these issues by keeping your cell phone out of sight on a date, and shutting down your digital devices at night. (CNN)

TWELVE WEIRD PLACES TO TRY YOGA(Huffington Post):
1) On an airplane. Flying can result in stiff limbs and a grouchy attitude, which is why it can't hurt to give your body a good stretch.
2) Stuck in traffic. If you experience road rage then a traffic jam might be the best time to practice yoga breathing. Since you can't control that clogged intersection, it's best to focus on exhaling angry feelings. Cyndi Lee, founder of OM Yoga in New York City, suggests that deep breaths can help quell that intense frustration.
3) In the park. What better way to enjoy the outdoors then to take a deep breath and meditate in the park? New York City's Central Park is an obvious destination for an outdoor yoga class, but this outdoor movement is stretching to the West coast too.
4) In prison. Those behind bars might seem like an unlikely population of yogis, but the values of meditation and reflection upheld by the practice of yoga could help bring about a new type of prison reform. Yoga is said to aid with depression and anxiety, which could benefit anyone experiencing stress.
5) On safari. Yoga-based Safaris are no new affair. Still, it would be a unique experience to practice yoga in between exploring the vast spaces of Tanzania. Try incorporating your observations of large cats into your own cat pose!
6) In Times Square. Just because the Summer Solstice yoga madness has passed doesn't mean that you can't try out the sport in one of the most iconic places in the world: Times Square. Welcome the summer with an appropriate sun salutation!
7) At your desk. Since work tends to stress us out, and that stress can lead to health problems, this yoga class you can do at your desk seems like an ideal investment. Unwind at the very place that winds you up.
8) On a paddleboard. See if this idea floats your boat: yoga on a paddleboard. It may sound strange, but the surface of the paddleboard engages the core differently than the ground would. This is especially challenging for maintaining balance, but it's easier than practicing on water!
9) From high above. If you want to take your yoga practice to new heights then Singapore is your destination of choice. At the Marina Bay Sands hotel you can practice yoga at the Bayan Tree Fitness Club with a view of the Marina Bay from 55 floors up!
10) During dinner. A good session of yoga can work up an appetite, so adding dinner seems only natural! This is the perfect event to combine the passions of yogis and foodies. Who wouldn't want chocolate truffles after a chaturanga?
11) In the snow. Since playing in the snow is not only fun, but it burns calories too, why not add "Snowga" to your list of fun, outdoor winter activities? Snowga is -- you guessed it -- yoga in the snow. This is an ideal way to either find relaxation on skis or just enjoy the great outdoors.
12) All over the world. After you've done a sun salutation from each corner of your hometown, it's time to step it up and try a truly unusual location. From Spain to Costa Rica; Turkey to Goa, these exotic yoga retreats could excite even the greatest skeptic of the practice.
SEVEN TYPES OF FLOWERS MEN BRING AND WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT HIM(The Stir):
1) Sunflowers: These are a beautiful flower. The man you receive these from is probably unconventional, maybe a bit of a hippy free spirit type, and definitely a lot of fun. He thinks outside the box and can recognize a good flower. This guy's a keeper!
2) Tulips: If it's springtime, this flower suggests that this man is the type of person who likes good weather, cares little about convention, and probably went to Amsterdam at some point. Which also may mean he is a pot head. But I digress. This is a fun flower and probably comes with a fun, light guy.
3) Daffodils: If you happen to love daffodils or have someone in your family who died of cancer (they are the American Cancer Society flower), then this is a very thoughtful flower. They are also outside the box and a little less expensive, so this is clearly a man who is thinking about finances and will probably make smart financial choices as well as remain thoughtful.
4) Roses: This is a double-edged sword kind of flower. On the one hand, it's so romantic and feels a bit extravagant (a dozen red roses are expensive!). It's also kind of a cliché. The kind of man who gives these is traditional. That can be a good thing. But that can also be a bad thing. I would be wary of a man who brings these too early in a relationship.
5) Daisies: These are whimsical, colorful, and pretty. I would expect these from a creative type of guy. Maybe an artist or musician.
6) Hand-picked wildflowers: To me, this is the ultimate guy. If he spent the time gathering flowers that made him think of me, I know he is a loyal person and someone who likely will consider me and my needs. He's also not a guy who does what everyone else does. A free thinker is a MUST.
7) Orchids: I would expect these from an orderly person who likes things clean and simple and has a good sense of design and aesthetics. Maybe someone who is a bit too anal for me, but if you like that, more power to you!
Thanks for listening to The Eagle while you work. Keep it fabulous, Houston!
