ROLLING STONES

The rumors continue to swell regarding what shape the Rolling Stones' 2013 shows will take. According to the latest word being whispered in industry and fan circles is that the band will be hitting the road sometime in the spring -- with Examiner.com posting that the newly formed Virgin Live and Paul Dainty's Dainty Group will handle publicizing the shows. Pollstar reported that the still-unannounced shows would reportedly be limited to 18 concerts "including multiple nights in select cities."

Kasabian's Sergio "Serge" Pizzorno may have given out the first clue as to where one of those shows might take place when he spoke MTV News about his band's spot at this summer's Glastonbury Festival: "I hope ours is the most talked about performance of the weekend, but that would be a miracle because the Rolling Stones are playing Glastonbury." Ron Wood has gone on record as saying he's personally pushing the band to play the annual UK festival.

  • Mick Jagger said that even 50 years into a career a band needs to constantly change and evolve to keep growing: "You have to keep yourself from repeating yourself. It's very difficult to do in anything; whether you're a writer or a journalist or a painter or whatever. So you have to. . . especially the rock business is very narrow. It's like a political party with very few views in it. And as soon as you stay from it, everyone goes, 'Wo, oh no! Wait a minute!' If you do a rock show with 25 half-naked dancers everyone will go, 'Oh, no -- but it's awful! Y'know, you can't do that.'"
  • Keith Richards attributes much of the Stones' longevity over the years to Ron Wood, who joined in time for the band's 1975 tour dates: "Definitely without Ronnie Wood, we wouldn't have had the cohesion to stick together. But, y'know, it was. . . he came along at just the right time. And with a guy like that around, you gotta hang around, 'cause he so damn funny (laughs)."

CLARENCE CLEMONS

Clarence Clemons' brother -- William Clemons -- and the father of Bruce Springsteen's current sax player, Jake Clemons -- has filed suit against his late brother's medical team. Roger Friedman's Showbiz411.com reported that the suit against the Palm Beach Cancer Center and three physicians has been approved to go forward in a jury trial. William Clemons alleges that "the medical team involved may have made a mistake by advising that Clarence off of blood thinners when he had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. By doing so, and not giving him intermediary blood thinners, they could have caused his stroke."

After Clarence's 2011 death, his widow Victoria Clemons, told Rolling Stone: "Shortly before the stroke, Clarence lost sensation in his index finger and his thumb. He had carpal tunnel surgery performed. He was seriously concerned about the ability to play sax again."

  • Showbiz411.com posted that the defendants in the suit are three specialists connected to the Palm Beach Cancer Center -- Drs. Robert J. Jacobson, David W. Dodson, and Keith Meyer. The doctors are accused of not administering Lovenox, a short term blood thinner, before or after Clarence's hand surgery.

ERIC BURDON

With Animals fans taking note that this year marks the band's 50th anniversary, frontman Eric Burdon is quick to point out that much of the accolades should go to him. Burdon will be a keynote speaker on March 14th at the 2013 South By Southwest Music and Media Conference (SXSW).

Burdon is back with his first new studio set in six years, titled, 'Til Your Rivers Run Dry, and told us that when you talk about the Animals -- you're essentially talking about him: "From my personal point of view? The Animals are dead. (Laughs) I mean, they've killed themselves. They were always the band that could not live up to their name. And I kept using the name for strictly promotional purpose, so that young kids would associate the name the Animals with the Beatles, the (Rolling) Stones, and that period and would come see my show. But, y'know, I got sued for using the name by former members of the band. And this has happened to many groups. To be quite honest with you, I always thought that I was the guy the kept the name alive when the others had stopped."

GUNS N' ROSES

Even though 2008's Chinese Democracy wasn't the most well-received Guns N' Roses album, fans were still grateful to finally hear something new from the group after 15 years. But if anyone is hoping to hear a new record from the current version of the band anytime soon, they shouldn't hold their breath. During a live chat online earlier this week, guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal addressed that question, saying, "You know what?! Just forget about a new record until it happens. I mean, I can't even begin . . . How long have we been talking about a new f***ing record?"

Thal added, "No, we haven't been in the studio together; no, we haven't started writing together as a band. If something came out at this point, it would be very old material that is just being released now. So it would be unheard material, but to me, I don't consider that a new record, I consider that just releasing old material from a band that doesn't exist anymore. And we need to make an album of this band right now."

  • Thal said that he asked singer and sole founding member Axl Rose about making new music just recently, adding, "I'm all about making music; that's why I make music -- to make music. So I'd like to really do that. I would be very happy if Guns N' Roses could do that. We'll see what happens. That's all I can say."
  • Keyboardist Dizzy Reed said a while back that a follow-up to 2008's Chinese Democracy didn't look likely to happen soon: "We haven't really talked a lot about that. We recorded a lot of material back, you know, when we started working on Chinese Democracy, so there's a quite a bit of unreleased stuff, I think, that would be really cool to be finished and put out. Everyone has great ideas and we're always sort of bouncing stuff off each other and I think eventually something's got to give, you know, and it's gonna come out."
  • As for Axl himself, the subject of a new album was just broached to him in an interview with Adelaide Now. When asked whether there would be new Guns music in 2013, he replied, "I can give you a definite maybe."
  • The last Guns album, Chinese Democracy, took 13 years and a reported $13 million to complete, and saw the exit of the entire original band as well as several succeeding lineups.

POLICE SAID SUSPECT TRIED TO GET AWAY IN TOY TRUCK

A woman in Jonesboro, Arkansas has been charged with driving while intoxicated after she allegedly crashed into a trailer home then tried to get away in a toy truck. According to witnesses, 29-year-old Jamie Jeanette Craft was speeding on Sunday evening (March 3rd) when she struck the trailer with her car. Police said another witness told them that Craft -- who was not wearing shoes or pants -- argued with him, grabbed at his daughter then tried to take off in his son's Power Wheels toy truck. The witness said he forced the woman to abandon the toy truck. Police later found her at her mother's house where she scored a .217 on her breathalyzer test -- nearly three times the limit for driving. Craft was arrested and charged with DWI, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and more. (UPI)

THE SCIENCE BEHIND BEER GOGGLES

U.K. researchers say that men and women don't actually see each other differently after a few drinks, but that they do have more desire. Dr. Amanda Ellison, a researcher at Durham University in the U.K. says that the part of brain responsible for making us want to mate continues to work even when we are very intoxicated. However, drinking alcohol shuts down the part of the brain responsible for impulse control, including sexual impulses. Ellison says that these two things together can mean people are less selective about who to mate with. In a related study, scientists found that people who were made to believe they were drunk and then asked to deliver a speech gave themselves better marks than those who believed they were sober-- regardless of how drunk they actually were. The study concluded that the more alcohol one consumes the more attractive they find themselves. (TIME)

"QUAD DATING" IS A THING

A new trend may be emerging from the word of online dating. The idea of quad dating involves a woman and her gay, male best friend going out with a man and his gay, male best friend. It's like a double-date with a twist, and close friends involved. While there is no quad-specific dating website, there is one that encourages friends to bring a friend on their dates called Tandem, which refers to its self as a "two on two meet-up site."   PLACEBOS WORK BETTER FOR NICE PEOPLE

Researchers find that placebos have a greate effect on nice individuals. For the study, scientists administed personality tests to 50-health participants and then gave each one a painful injection followed by a fake, or placebo, pain killer. They found that participants who were found to be resilient, straightforward or altruistic experience a greater reduction in pain from the placebo compared to those who were found to have an angry or hostile personality. Brain scans taken during the experiement to measure the amount of natural painkillers present in the brain called mu-opioids found that the brains of people with more "agreeable" personalities released more mu-opioids than those with angry personalities. PEOPLE WANT FAMILY STYLE DISHES AT RESTAURANTS

Diners once embraced menus which allowed them to order many small-plates and experience small portions of many meals, but now there seems to be a trend of small plate fatigue. Some restaurants have begun ditching the small plates for very large family-style plates. Two popular New York City chefs switched the food at their restaurants from small-plates to large hunks of meat and other foods meant to be shared by a party of four or more, and other restaurants have followed suit.
