Europe or not for Van Halen? Bob Seger on retirement. Joe Walsh, Mick Jagger & Ringo Starr recording together.  Deep Purple's "Now What?"  Twinkies could be back by the summer. Moral decisions can be shaped by a bad mood. The trashiest spring break destinations revealed. Silicone breast implants making a comeback.

VAN HALEN

Is Van Halen touring Europe or not? On Monday (March 11th), David Lee Roth announced during a radio interview: "We're going to be playing Europe -- probably 50, 60 shows outside of the States, starting at the end of this year, and then come back around through the U.S." Legendary music mogul Irving Azoff, who manages Eddie and Alex Van Halen, spoke to Billboard, and essentially called Roth a liar, explaining, "All the announced dates, which include the date in Australia, the dates in Japan and a date in Wisconsin, are confirmed and on sale and those are real. I manage the Van Halens, and I know nothing about any European tour."

A while back, drummer Alex Van Halen joked about a certain affliction nearly every rock band finds itself dealing with: "The joke has become the 'L.S.D.' thing, 'Lead Singer Disease,' and it's not an entirely off-base comment. Not all lead singers, but most of them, they're on a different planet. Part of what makes a band. . . it's like a team! You may have a star player or two, but it's still a team! Without the team, y'know, you're really dead in the water."

BOB SEGER

Although he's still knocking them dead night after night on the road, Bob Seger definitely sees his touring days winding down sooner than later. Seger, who plays Winnipeg's MTS Centre tonight (March 13th), told QMI Agency, "I'm definitely nearing the end. I can't see myself doing this when I'm 70 and I'm going to be 68 in May. I've had a wonderful, wonderful run and my audiences have just kept coming and it's really nice but all good things have come to an end. . . Of course if the (new) album takes off -- in this day and age, I haven't got a clue -- but if does, then we might tour another year, we'll see." Seger expects to release his new album sometime later this year.

Seger said that his 1976 classic "Mainstreet," which is an early highpoint during his nightly set, holds a memory for him of a specific time and place: "'Mainstreet' was written probably about my first girlfriend -- as was 'Night Moves' -- but she didn't dance in a bar (laughs) or anything like that. A lot of its, she probably had the influence on it, but I made up the scenario. Although I did used to walk on Ann Street -- which is just off Main Street in Ann Arbor, and there would be a kind of smoky atmosphere in there, and it actually was a black blues club. And there was a guy who used to play there called Washboard Willie -- and I loved his band. And I would try to stand outside and listen to the band as long as I could before they shooed me away (laughs)!"

JOE WALSH/MICK JAGGER/RINGO STARR

Joe Walsh, Mick Jagger, and Ringo Starr were recording together in Los Angeles with producer Don Was and session drummer Jim Keltner. Walsh posted a picture from March 8th featuring the rock legends on his Facebook page, commenting: "Cooking up something here at Capitol Records! I think you'll like it."

Joe Walsh -- who's now Ringo's brother-in-law -- was asked how he would feel about teaming up for a few shows featuring him, Ringo, and other friends and musicians who wouldn't necessarily fall into the All Starr Band touring revue: "Ringo and I have talked about something like that, but we talked about doing a blues album -- with peers. With (a) peer group. And by that, that would be Keb' 'Mo, maybe Bonnie Raitt, maybe George Thorogood, y'know, right down the line -- Kenny Wayne Shepherd."

DEEP PURPLE

On April 30th, Deep Purple will release Now What?, the band's first new studio set since 2005. The album will also be released as a limited edition CD with a bonus DVD featuring the band discussing the new album and one bonus studio cover version. Bob Ezrin, best known for his work with Pink Floyd, Kiss, and Alice Cooper, among others, was behind the boards for the new set.

TWINKIES COULD BE BACK ON SHELVES BY THE SUMMER!

Twinkie lovers rejoice! Your favorite cream-filled, golden-cake treat could be back on store shelves by this summer after a successful $410 million bid for the Hostess snack business by a joint venture of private equity firms Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co. Twinkies, Wonder Bread and other Hostess products haven't been produced since November, when the company filed with the bankruptcy court to liquidate its business. Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos are buying most of Hostess' snack cake business, including Hostess and Dolly Madison products. Flower Foods got most of Hostess' bread business, including the Wonder, Nature's Pride and Home Pride brands, with a $360 million bid last month. And McKee Foods is the leading bidder for Hostess' Drake's brand, its products including Ring Dings, Yodels, Devil Dogs and Yankee Doodles, with a $27.5 million offer.

MORAL DECISIONS CAN BE SHAPED BY A BAD MOOD

Do you think your nasty mood after a hard work day would influence whether or not you helped someone? New research finds that your mood does have the potential to shape your decisions. To find this, German researchers first put participants in a specific mood by having them listen to music and then write down an autobiographical memory. Those in a good mood listened to Mozart's Eline Kleine Nachtmusic and wrote down a positive memory, while those is a bad mood listened to Barber's Adagio for Strings, Opus 11 and wrote down a negative memory. Participants in neutral moods listened to Kraftwerk's Pocket Calculator and wrote about a neutral memory. After having their moods primed, participants were given a fake scenario and asked how they would respond. They found that those in a positive mood responded to both questions about the scenario positively, while those in a bad mood responded to both questions negatively. The study ultimately found that a good mood validates accessible thoughts, while negative moods invalidate accessible thoughts. (Scientific American)

THE TRASHIEST SPRING BREAK DESTINATIONS REVEALED

Depending on what you're looking for on your springtime vacation one website reveals places you may want to avoid, or put at the top of your list. CoedMagazine.com conducted some research to find the trashiest spring break destinations, the rankings are based on the number of Hooters restaurants, tattoo parlors, liquor stores and strip clubs in each area along with the percentage of bars with crazy closing times and took into account lackadaisical open container laws. The top five trashiest spring break destinations from most to least are: Las Vegas, Nevada, South Padre Island, Texas, Daytona Beach, Florida, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Orlando, Florida. SILICONE BREAST IMPLANTS MAKING A COMEBACK

More women are getting silicone breast implants, a new research from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery finds. In 2012, 72-percent of over 330-thousand breast-augmentations in the U.S. used silicone implants, while 28-percent used saline. In 1992 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned the used of silicone implants due to concerns over the implants rupturing and causing connective-tissue diseases. In 2006 that ban was lifted to the delight of patients and surgeons who saw silicone implants look and feel more like natural breasts than saline implants do. However, in a 2011 report the FDA noted that about 20-percent of patients who receive silicone breast implants will need them removed within ten years with complications of the devices including infection, scarring and hardening of the area around the implant.
