THE EAGLES

Available now for pre-order is the Eagles' History Of The Eagles, the band's three hour documentary, which will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 30th. The three-disc set includes History Of The Eagles - Part One and History Of The Eagles - Part Two -- as well as Eagles Live At The Capital Centre - March 1977, featuring never-before-released performances from the band's two-night stand at Washington, D.C.'s Capital Center during the legendary Hotel California tour.

The disc features previously unreleased concert performances of "Hotel California," "New Kid In Town," "Take It To The Limit," "One Of These Nights," "Lyin' Eyes," "Rocky Mountain Way," "Best Of My Love," and "Take It Easy."

  • History Of The Eagles pulls no punches in dealing with the band's inner workings and drug and alcohol issues. Joe Walsh revealed that it was actually through the support of his Eagles bandmates Don Henley and Glenn Frey, that he was able to finally break free of decades of substance abuse: "Two things happened; Don and Glenn came to me and said, 'We wanna get the band back together and we can't do it without you and we can't do it without you sober. And that kind of was the final thing to try and clean up. I really owe it to -- a lot of it -- to Don and Glenn, 'cause they really forced the issue."

JIM MORRISON

A new Jim Morrison documentary is in the works, which will chronicle his life from his childhood through his career with the Doors. Deadline.com reported that the independent film, named Before The End: Jim Morrison Comes Of Age is already in production led by filmmakers Jess and Jeff Finn. Among the key participants in the Before The End are Morrison's kid brother, Andy Morrison, Morrison's UCLA film instructor Bill Adams, and Doors roadie Gareth Blythe, among others. The new film promises, "previously unseen home movies and photographs."

Doors' keyboardist Ray Manzarek understands that the public will always be fascinated by Jim Morrison's short time on Earth and long for more of the long-dead "Lizard King": "I love the fact that people love the Doors. When you say 'The Doors,' it's very important to know the psyche of Jim Morrison. America cannot figure out the psyche of Jim Morrison. And they are having a marvelous Freudian struggle trying to figure out who he was, why he was that way, and they just can't figure it out. So I understand completely why they're so intrigued with him. And want more and more and more."

ALICE COOPER

Alice Cooper is eyeing a covers album which will pay tribute to his heroes from the 1960's. Cooper, who's in pre-production on the collection, is once again working with legendary producer Bob Ezrin, and told Rolling Stone, "I just kind of said, 'We've never done a covers album, let's think about that.' So Ezrin and I are kind of bouncing it around right now." He added that he's considering some of the classic tunes he's incorporated as part of his live show, including, the Beatles' "Revolution," the Who's "My Generation," and Jimi Hendrix's "Foxey Lady" -- with a possible cover of one by his early-1970's drinking buddy, the late Harry Nilsson. The album, which will be the followup to 2011's Welcome To My Nightmare 2, will probably be out in 2014.

Alice Cooper first met John Lennon shortly after the couple's infamous 1969 Bed-In's when they both performed at September 1969's Toronto Rock & Roll Revival Festival. Although they went on to become drinking buddies together later on in the mid-'70's in L.A., Alice recalls Lennon cutting a pretty intense figure at first sight: [Well, he was very driven by his political motivations at that time. He was a very cynical guy and at the same time very lovable. And he always went to: 'I'm gonna prove a point here.' The point was, 'I was just in the Beatles -- the biggest band of all time. Now I'm here with Yoko, who can't sing a lick, and yodels, and does all this stuff; I'm gonna prove to you I can make this work, too.'"

THE BEATLES

It was 43 years ago Saturday (March 16th, 1970) that the Beatles released "Let It Be," their final single in America prior to breaking up. The track was actually over a year old, having been recorded on January 31st, 1969, during the group's ill-fated "Get Back" sessions, which were originally conceived as a TV special chronicling the Beatles' stage comeback. The sessions instead became the Let It Be movie, which revealed the disintegration of the band.

"Let It Be," along with its companion piece "The Long And Winding Road," was written by Paul McCartney in late 1968 near the end of the Beatles' "White Album" sessions. He began writing the song after waking from a dream featuring his mother, Mary, who had died of cancer when he was 14.

TUESDAY IS THE "LEAST SEXY" DAY OF THE WEEK

What day of the week is your favorite to get frisky? A new survey from Britain's Lovehoney, a sex toy retailer, finds that Tuesday is the day participants say least likely day they'll get it on. Thirty-seven-percent of couples say Saturday is the ideal day for sex, while 23-percent named Friday as their ideal day. The survey found men say they instigate sex 79-percent of the time, while women say they make the first move 46-percent of the time. Additionally, 73-percent of men say they never turn down an advance from their partner, while 46-percent of women say the same. Thirty-percent of women say they turn down their partner 10-percent of the time. (Daily Mail)

HOW TO AVOID A ST. PATRICK'S DAY HANGOVER

The luck of the Irish can't save you from a hangover, but there are a few things you can do to help avoid a hangover. Dr. Alan Weiss with the Cleveland Clinic says the best way to keep down your cornbeef and cabbage and avoid a headache is to stay hydrated, and recommends alternating drinking non-alcoholic beverage with your alcoholic choices. Additionally he says you should lay off the green beer, as clear types of alcohol tend to cause fewer hangovers. If you find yourself having a bit too much green beer there are measures you can take the day after. Weiss recommends making a banana milkshake with honey, as the banana will calm your stomach and the honey will counteract the effects of alcohol and rebuild sugar levels. Other foods that will help your hangover include B-vitamins, black coffee with lemon, apples, and chicken soup.

TEN WAYS TO PREPARE FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY(Daily Press):

1) Get green clothes. If you don't want to get pinched you better put on some green.

2) Attend or be in a St. Patrick's Day parade. The biggest parades are in New York City, Chicago and Washington D.C. if you really want to go for the gold.

3) Buy your drinks. Consuming an alcoholic beverage or two is a well known custom on this day. Try a new Irish beer for a change of pace to celebrate the day.

4) Involve the kids. For the kids, getting a box of Lucky Charms and going straight for the sweet, Irish-themed marshmallows can be fun treat. Also, try making a pair of shamrock glasses out of cardboard and green cellophane for a bit of added fun. Have fun going on a "treasure hunt" around the house for lucky charms like horseshoes and rabbits feet.

5) Start practicing your accent. Practice your accent by softening the pronunciation of your vowels and hardening the consonants. For example, pronounce "How are you" like "Ha-ware-ye." Add in a few phrases to your accent and you'll be good to go. Watch Pierce Brosnan and Colin Farrell for research.

6) Learn a jig. Ask Ashlee Simpson for a lesson in how to do a jig. She broke into dance during her awkward lip synch moment on "Saturday Night Live." Learning to dance a jig will make you a hit at any St. Patrick's Day party, or at least make people forget your party fouls.

7) "Kiss me"shirts. Rocking a "Kiss me I'm Irish" T-shirt is a fun way to celebrate the holiday.

8) Get a cab company's phone number. We are all about celebrating and having a good time, but please be responsible. There are plenty of cab companies available to help you out. Program a couple of them into your cell phone now or write down their numbers and put them in your wallet -- or somewhere you won't forget when you won't remember how you got home.

9) Rent and Irish movie. Watch the 1959 Disney "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" to get you in the spirit for St. Patrick's Day.

10) Get cooking. A nice mutton stew, a plate of bangers or a tray of shamrock-shaped cookies help set the scene. Plan your celebration menu ahead for a complete experience.

11 REASONS WHY ST. PATRICK'S DAY IS THE BEST HOLIDAY(BuzzFeed):

1) You can drink Irish coffee for breakfast and no one will judge you.

2) You can have bountiful meat and potatoes all day long.

3) It's a holiday where religion, ethnicity, hell, even appropriateness are thrown out the window: Non-Irish people can freely celebrate.

4) When you're a bartender on St. Patrick's Day, you've won the drunken lottery.

5) This is the one night of the year where grandmas will drink you under the table.

6) The beer is green!!! It's green!

7) Even Disneyland goes Irish and paints the downtown area green!

8) St. Patrick's Day means Shamrock Shakes for all!

9) Parades filled with Irish step dancing! Just try not to smile when you see those feet jig about!

10) If you're a redhead, you'll be crowned a god and score free drinks all day.

11) You can get away with calling anything your pot of gold, and I do mean anything...

Thanks for listening to The Eagle while you work. Keep it fabulous, Houston!!
