Julien’s Auctions, the world famous auction house to the stars, has an enormous Music Icons auction June 11, 12, and 13th. And one of the star attractions is Alex Van Halen’s custom Ludwig drum kit that he played in over 100 shows during the band’s insane 1980 “Invasion” tour. This kit is enormous! Alex has always had one of the largest drumkits of any touring band, maybe aside from Neil Peart. From just looking at the pictures this kit looks to have 13 drums including the articulated bass drums with flexible extended hoses making the drums 50″ deep each! Plus 8 cymbals, a hi-hat, cowbell (because I got a fever for more) and all the stands, mounting hardware, and throne. The bid is already at $65,000 but its expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000 before the hammer drops. There are also a bunch of Eddie Van Halen guitars, a Tommy Lee piano, an Elton John piano, Eric Singer from KISS drums, original Kurt Cobain art, and much much more.

Maybe that’s a little rich for your blood? Well this same auction also has a custom Prince 1994 “Blue Cloud” Guitar that also hung in a Hard Rock Cafe, and is expected to reach between $60,000 and $80,000.

Or if you want to go whole hog you can try to score Bob Dylan’s hand written lyrics and chord annotations for “Lay Lady Lay” that are expected to get between $500,000 and $700,000!
