Wearing or displaying pineapples apparently means more than you think. For most of us, when we see a pineapple we think of Hawaii or just that it’s a delicious refreshing fruit that is perfect for summer. Pineapple is a symbol of a subculture that you need to be aware of. Displaying one could mean that person is a swinger. Yes, a swinger. Just so there is no misunderstanding, according to Merriam-Webster dictionary a swinger is a: a person who is lively, exciting, and fashionable and/or b: one who engages freely in sex.
Why am I telling you about this? A couple shared their recent experience on TikTok. They went on a cruise, but kept getting strange looks. Plus, extremely freindly people kept approaching them to talk (and flirt). It seems in preparing for the trip the woman bought matching swimsuits for them to wear on the cruise. You guessed it, they had pineapples all over both outfits!

I know what you are thinking. What does swinging have to do with a freaking pineapple? Pineapples have become known as a symbol for warm welcomes, celebration, and hospitality. Due to the pineapple symbolism, swingers have adopted the fruit to let other like minded people know that they are welcome and want to connect.

As you drive through your neighborhood, I know you’ll be looking at your neighbor’s landscaping very closely now!
Don’t forget to check your closet and see if any of your clothes have a pineapple design or time to go shopping if want to keep things on the “down low”.
