I hate being on an escalator and having to just ride it, especially if I’m in a hurry. I feel like I’m making good time when I walk up and down them. In the Saitama District outside of Japan, I would now be breaking the law! The goal is to stop people from getting bumped and hurt on the escalator. Chief of policy affairs of the LDP assembly group, Shinichi Nakayashiki, said “We need to deliver a strong message to the public to alter practices that have become so pervasive as to be perceived as custom,” The measure goes into effect October 1st.

What about the moving sidewalks at the airport? What’s next? Let’s hope this doesn’t catch on.
