Actor Barbara Bosson, who is best known for her portrayal of Fay Furillo in the 1980s police drama “Hill Street Blues,” died Saturday, The Los Angeles Times reported.

She was 83.

Bosson died “peacefully … [and] surrounded by her family and loved ones,” according to her son, director and producer Jesse Bochco.

“More spirit and zest than you could shake a stick at,” wrote the TV producer and director, 47. “When she loved you, you felt it without a doubt. If she didn’t, you may well have also known that too. Forever in our hearts. I love you Mama. Barbara ‘Babs’ Bosson Bochco 1939-2023

Bosson was nominated for a supporting drama actress Emmy during each of the first five years running of “Hill Street Blues” for her role as the ex-wife of Daniel J. Travanti’s Capt. Frank Furillo.

The show was co-created by her then-husband, Steven Bochco.

According to People, Bosson left the series in the sixth season after a dispute over her role and her salary.

Bochco had been fired after the series’ fifth season. The couple divorced in 1997.

A decade later, she would earn another Emmy nomination in 1996 for portraying prosecutor Miriam Grasso in “Murder One,” a project created by Bochco.

She also had roles in several TV shows including the Rockford Files spin-off Richie Brockelman, “Private Eye,” “Hooperman” and “Cop Rock.”

Bosson is survived by her son, daughter, grandson and granddaughter.
