A woman told police that when she went to check on Victoria Hidalgo’s home, she noticed Hidalgo’s car wasn’t there and a bullet was lodged in the front door, WFLA reported.

In a press release, deputies said that when they arrived, they found a child in a crib unsupervised.

Police said that in the course of their investigation, they realized Hidalgo’s vehicle had been stopped in a different area of the county with both her and another person inside.

In a statement, Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell said, “There is no excuse for an infant to be left in a home alone, nor is there a good explanation for the discharge of the firearm. It is clear that this woman’s priorities are way out of order, and I hope this experience serves as a wake-up call for her.”
