The Arizona Humane Society posted a video on Facebook showing the rescue, which took two days. Rescuers said the kitten had been meowing for help for a week before the fire department and animal rescuers could help.

The Phoenix Fire Department posted photos to its Facebook page showing the small orange cat safely above ground.

The kitten, who was underweight, was taken to an animal hospital and was treated for fleas and a stomach ailment, UPI reported.

The cat will require at least two weeks of treatment before he can be adopted, but a Phoenix firefighter has already expressed interest in taking it home, KPNX reported.
