BRONX, New York – An 18-year-old New York teen was stabbed and set on fire in the Bronx on Wednesday. He eventually died.

Winston Ortiz had a verbal dispute with a man at a Bronx apartment building, WABC reported.

Police said the alleged attacker was waiting for Ortiz on the apartment’s fifth floor, News 12 reported.

They said the man stabbed Ortiz three times. The man then poured a liquid on him and lit him on fire, WNBC reported.

Residents heard Ortiz screaming, News 12 reported. They thought the building itself was on fire but then saw Ortiz on fire. Some tried to pour water on him to put the flames out, WNBC reported.

When police arrived, they found Ortiz barely conscious with stab wounds and burns on his body, WNBC reported.

Detectives have surveillance video of the incident and are looking for the alleged suspect, News 12 reported.
