Dusty Hill, a rock legend, has passed away. Now ZZ Top has come forward with a statement to honor the famed bassist’s passing.

Dusty Hill is most famous for playing bass in ZZ Top, an iconic blues-rock band that experienced a meteoric rise into popular culture during the 1970s. Hill would go on to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Taking to Facebook, ZZ Top has since come forward to announce that Dusty Hill passed away on July 28 at 72-years-old. The band’s full statement may be viewed below.

“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX.” The band stated. “We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo.”
